Outreach

Our goal is to measurably increase the parish's awareness of and involvement in hands-on community outreach. Here are a few examples of outreach opportunities at St. Matthew's.

Outreach - Shelter Network School Backpacks Drive

Shelter Network is committed to providing housing and support services that create opportunities for homeless families and individuals to re-establish self-sufficiency and to return to permanent homes of their own. We support Shelter Network by donating prefilled backpacks for school age children in the fall. This is a great way for the whole school and church community to rally behind a worthy cause to which we can all relate.

Outreach - Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller and his wife, Linda:
* A nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that has helped to build over 500,000 decent, affordable houses and served 2.5 million people worldwide.
* Vision: a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Outreach - Home and Hope

Home & Hope offers homeless families safe, nurturing, shelter and support while working to regain their self-sufficiency. Family homelessness in San Mateo County is a significant, thoughoften invisible, problem. Every year, an estimated 6,000 people in the county become homeless; two-thirds of these homeless people are families with children.
