Day 2: Fish, Boats, Baptism and Beatitudes

Pilgrim’s enjoyed lunch at the kibbutz.  St. Peter’s fish……aka tilapia. Looks tasty!

Took a boat out on the Sea of Galilee, re-affirmed their Baptismal vows at the Jordan headwaters.

Here is a photo of our group on the hillside just below the Roman Catholic Church of the Beatitudes.  The modern church was built in on the site that pilgrims have visited since the 4th century where Jesus is believed to have delivered the Sermon on the Mount.  Our group took turns reading Matthew Chapter 5–giving each person a chance to preach the words of Jesus in the context of his original Galilean ministry.

Here is our group at an ancient archaeological site in Casereaa Philipi which is in the Golan Heights–in the northern Galilee region.  The rock face was the site of ancient greek temples.  The site is near the base of Mt. Hermon (the other possible site for the Transfiguration). In this city (Matt 16:15) Jesus asks his disciples “Who do you say I am?” and Peter answers.IMG_0113
