Sometime during the night of July 7th our beloved church was vandalized by persons unknown. Rocks were thrown through four of our historic stained glass windows, an urn was smashed and the exterior of the building was scratched in several places. Shock has quickly given way to action and we are in the process of beginning repairs and working with the police in this ongoing investigation. The outpouring of prayers and offerings has been truly overwhelming and a testament to the special place that the Episcopal Church of St. Matthew has in our community. We are renewed in our strength as a parish, uplifted by the support of our friends and neighbors from all faith traditions, and growing all the time in our commitment to be a beautiful beacon of God’s love in the center of San Mateo.
