Bells of Eastertide

Bells of Eastertide

Philip Keil rings our newly refurbished bells to the classic Easter hymn Hail Thee, Festival Day. The bells were installed in 1964 as a memorial to William Philip Roth (1880-1963) and were cast at the famed John Taylor Foundry in England. A keyboard at the organ console operates the bells.

FUN FACT: Did you know our bell tower is not a carillon, as is commonly claimed, but a 15-bell chime? Carillon’s bells swing freely, while our bells remain stationary, and consist of 23 or more bells.
