Drive over, park in the parking lot or along Baldwin Avenue, and enjoy a five or six minute bell concert in celebration of Juneteenth. Known also as Freedom Day and Jubilee Day, this annual commemoration on June 19 marks the final end of legal slavery in the U. S. — more than two years after the formal Emancipation Proclamation — when federal orders were read in Galveston, Texas.
